949-689-2047 Indigo Fine Art Chuck Ren, American (1941 – 1995)

Chuck Ren was born in the small town of Ajo, Arizona. He studied at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. He began his career in art as a commercial artist for Lockheed Aircraft and Computer Sciences Corporation. Later, he became a free-lance illustrator creating sports art for The National Football League, The North American Hockey League, and The North American Soccer League. He was commissioned to create the official 1980 Super Bowl Poster. He also created art for the entertainment industry including A&M Records, Paramount Pictures, and Universal Pictures.

In 1982, he moved to Sedona, Arizona. He began to collect western artifacts which he used as inspiration for his paintings depicting people and scenes of the great American west. He created a body of work featuring cowboys, Native Americans and life in the west. Chuck Ren died in Sedona in 1995.

"Because that is a way of life that is gone, and I want to preserve it in memory. If you look at a modern cattle round-up, you realize that the American cowboy's way of life hasn't essentially changed. I'm trying to learn everything I can about the Indians. Most paintings I've seen dealt with the Indian in a group or social setting. I've tried to focus on the individual." Chuck Ren
