Janet Zambai, Ameircan (1954 – )
Janet Zambai was born in Wyoming in 1954. She studied art at Wyoming’s Casper College and has worked as a professional glass artist since 1994. Accomplished in traditional stained glass making, sandblasting, hand painting, and fusing glass, Zambai was chosen to serve as Artist in Residence for the Nicolaysen Art Museum, in Casper, Wyoming in 2003 and 2004.
Greatly inspired by nature, Janet Zambai is intrigued with the peaceful essence of water, the way it moves into ever changing patterns; in her own words, “A lot of my work has a floating, watery, organic feel to it.” Indeed, when one looks at an original Zambai glass work, one can see a myriad of swirling shapes in rich colors that seem to float and move. Each piece has a lush look, an individual rhythm that puts one in mind of water and music. “I have always been a peace maker, I want my work to have a positive effect on the people who look at it.” Working in her art studio, Janet often listens to and is inspired by music, “anything by Enya.” she says.
